Frequently Asked Questions
Question:
How are Inlay/Onlay
Styx more efficient for aiding in the try-in and seating of inlays
and onlays than using one’s fingers or other implements?
Answer:
Inlay/Onlay
Styx are easy to use and are ideal for the
positioning and seating of inlays and onlays during the try-in phase and during
cementation. The Inlay/Onlay Styx tip
holds the restoration securely within or around the tooth during
the try-in phase, while the contacts are being checked with floss. This helps
to prevent any chance of the patient accidentally swallowing the restoration
during the try-in.
The
slender, contoured design of the Inlay/Onlay Styx tip also
enables you to seat inlays and onlays with a gentle and even distribution of
pressure, giving the assurance of predictable results while enhancing the
dentist’s vision during placement. The tips of the Inlay/Onlay Styx rotate to allow you or your assistant to approach the
restoration from different angles, and also enables you to fit restorations
that transverse both mesial-distal and buccal-lingual directions. This
rotation, along with the slender design of the tips, help to
keep the margins of the restoration clearly visible and accessible, allowing
easy access for the light source, floss and interproximal serrated metal
strips.
Question:
What makes the Inlay/Onlay
Styx tips so unique?
Answer:
The Inlay/Onlay Styx tips are
made of a semi-soft, flexible and slightly tacky material that is ideal for the
positioning and seating of inlays and onlays during the try-in phase and during
cementation. Each tip has an internal
hex, which allows it to rotate to allow you or your assistant to
approach the restoration from different angles. It‘s slender design and elongated
point of contact is designed to fit the occlusal groove of any molar or
premolar restoration. Additionally, Inlay/Onlay
Styx are excellent for seating any posterior
ceramic crown, as they apply just the right amount of gentle pressure without
any slippage. Inlay/Onlay
Styx tips are also disposable, so they are compliant with infection
control guidelines.
